When the BBC asked locum vet Sophie Bell if they could film her in a clinical environment, she chose none other than Foxcotte Vets in Andover!
Sophie regularly does work for Foxcotte Vets, and is being followed around the country by the BBC as she runs a series of first aid courses for pet owners. Her courses are the real deal, and challenge lots of first aid information that owners are often wrongly given.
‘It was such an exciting day for the staff,’ says Gill Young, Practice Manager and RVN at Foxcotte Vets. ‘It definitely piqued the interest of all the clients who were visiting us that day.
‘We invited the lovely Reggie (pictured) and his Dad along to be her subject for filming,’ Gill says. ‘He was an absolute star and his Dad is already exploring his future modelling career.’
The BBC also took an interest elsewhere in the practice too. Gill continues:
‘They also interviewed me about my role as RVN in an emergency clinic, describing an emergency situation where the owners could have performed first aid and helped their pet on their way to the clinic. They did some general shots of our Head Receptionist Amy as she greeted clients, and of the pets coming and going from the practice. They finished the session with a visit to the park, where they interviewed local dog walkers and asked them questions about pet first aid.’
The programme is due to air later this month. For more info on Sophie’s fantastic first aid courses, click here.
