Independent Vetcare (IVC) breaks the 500 practice mark

Independent Vetcare have recently broken the 500 practice mark to become the UK’s market leader in Veterinary Care.

The group, which was built from a platform of 20 practices in 2011 puts the success down to staying true to its founding philosophy.

“We’ve always known that practices deliver the best client and clinical care when they are led by their local clinical teams,” explains Group C.E.O. David Hillier, “We were founded by and run for vets, which is why so many former owners have chosen to stay on and run their businesses after they joined the group. Whilst we’ve grown we’ve never lost sight of the guiding principals that got us here and if anything we’ve built on them, ensuring that we have the right support in place to nurture every practice as they joined.”

“Key to our growth has been peer to peer testimonies; it’s a small profession and over the last few years vets have watched fellow colleagues join us only to fall in love with the job again because we take away the headaches that come with running a modern practice. The support provided for Equipment, Finance, HR, Training, Marketing and Property to name a few is there for all our practices to benefit from and we’ve proved year in, year out that we deliver on our promise. That’s why so many of our practices that have joined us actively recommend selling to IVC.”

Stuart Caton MRCVS, Commercial Director and Board Member ellaborates, “After many years in a successful Veterinary Practice partnership, I knew the importance of being able to make local decisions and what my practices meant to the local community. I wanted IVC to remain true to the heritage of the local businesses, but also to support and develop the practices and staff so they benefitted by being part of something bigger. With a Clinical Board to help guide our group on business and purchasing decisions, our market leading training academy and our enthusiasm for investment in practice facilities and services, staff immediately experience positive tangible benefits from joining us. We knew we could offer practices an exciting, fresh  proposition and are really proud to have transformed the perception of corporate groups. Our focus remains on doing something groundbreaking with every single practice that joins us; namely to cherish their identity and independent spirit. This is why we are now informally known as ‘the friendly corporate’.”

So what next for IVC?

“We plan to continue doing exactly what we’ve done from the outset,” explains Paul Cowling UK CEO, “market consolidation remains strong and owners are continuing to choose IVC as the best home for their practice where they can be sure we will look after their staff. We are delighted to welcome more practices into ‘the family’ and help develop them in the way we always have. I’m sure 2018 will be another record year for us.”
